The last two weekends I’ve djed at two different kinds of events.
Last Friday night I played at la Sala de exposiciones Mare Nostrum in La Cala del Moral, Malaga where Lilian Berg opened her Art exhibition. There was a good turnout of guests and plenty of tourists and locals came to have a look at her art as well. The exhibition is on til 23 8 09. You can see more of Lilian’s art at www.lilianberg.com. I played some chilled out music in a range of different styles and with flamenco, arabic, asian and indian influences. Towards the end of the evening I played some more dancey stuff finishing off with Depeche Mode and Yazoo, ONCE A FAN OF THE EIGHTIES, ALWAYS A FAN OF THE EIGHTIES!
Last night was fascinating. The event was to raise funds for Karuna Dana. It’s a charity that runs a school for 360 children in one of the poorest parts of Tibet. The school teaches children in their own language and provides an important cultural role in an area where traditional values are competing with the power of the state machinery. This year the charity is aiming to raise funds to provide two meals a day to the school kids, at the moment they get one. In previous years fundraising in Spain has paid for extensions to the school. The evening was promoted by Golf the Costa and was held at the Marbella Golf and Country Club. Ronan McGuire led a very successful auction where various members offered lots like golf clubs (surprise, surprise) also a great photo shoot offer, and someone called Rob DJ offered to play at your party. My djing was mostly for the crowd of kids and Lady Gaga and Flo Rida were the most requested, Crazy Frog got a rare spin on my decks and one Dad got his favourite song spun, Beatfreakz, somebody’s watching me.
Now, a short holiday, then a series of weddings and parties throughout September and October…
